Did you fear you'd missed the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto boat when you purchased your new Kia? Worry no more; the Korean carmaker is offering free updates that will bring the popular smartphone integrations into the dashboards of eight of its models later this summer.
Kia Motors America, better known simply as "Kia,"announced Tuesday morning that the models, spanning the 2014 to 2017 model years, are now eligible for free updates. These updates will enable both CarPlay and Android Auto on the company's navigation and UVO3 infotainment systems.

2017 ForteIn order to install the update, owners of new and preowned Kia models will first need to register at myuvo.com.

2015-15 Optima Hybrid
2015-15 Sedona
2014-16 Soul
2015-16 Soul EV
2016 Sorento
2017 Sportage
At the end of July, Kia will send out emails to registered owners. This email will include vehicle eligibility info and system update download instructions.
Once their updates are installed, iPhone users will be able to use Siri to dictate emails and more. Just don't expect her to access Spotify or let you use anything other than Apple Maps to get around. That is, for now.
